For years, the Sirius System was ruled by Overlord Pounce
with an iron paw. Few dared to stand up to the Overlord, and fewer still lived
long enough to regret it. Where Pounce could not rule by fear or command, he ruled
by deception. Bribes, trickery, mysterious dognappings and arrests for "crimes
against the State" were the norm.
Having usurped the throne from his brother, Pounce began his reign by instituting
a "Species Purification Program." The program incuded the enslavement of
all Shih Tzus, Chihuahuas and Pekinese, and the declaration of these breeds
as "unfit for breeding." The program was shortly thereafter enlarged to include
"all manner of small, yappy dogs." Concern began to grow amongst the populace
that Overlord Pounce intended ultimately to include all but his fellow Borzoi
under this act.
Pounce's political enemies began to align themselves against their Overlord.
Many of them were found out by Pounce's nephews, Lokey
and Pokey, and were summarily neutralized. But enough survived to organize
the various states and protectorates of the system. The time was right for
revolution.
The civil war that followed was bloody and long. The Overlord's vaunted
Osopolis, the capital of the Sirius System, fell. Pounce was captured
and put on trial.
When the Revolutionary Council officially took control, it was discovered that
Pounce had secured the loyalty of the elite Doberman Guard through the use of
the highly-addictive, illegal stimulant Puppy-uppers, which was laced into the
Guard's liver treats. This revelation sealed the Overlord's fate. Justice
Salacius P. Uki sentenced Pounce and his henchdogs
Lokey and Pokey to banishment from the Sirius System.
Upon his sentencing, Pounce declared that he would return to exact his revenge.
