With the amazing Bone of Power, Wonder 'Zoi
protects the denizens of Motorville from evil.

Who is Wonder 'Zoi? Is he a strange visitor from another world with powers beyond those of mortal canines? Can he leap tall fences in a single bound? Is he faster than a speeding bunny? More powerful than a lure machine? Does he, disguised as Lance O'Lakes, mild-mannered mainframe programmer for a large metropolitan accounting firm, lead a never-ending battle for truth, justice, and freeze-dried liver snacks?

Like some other comic book heroes, whose names will go unmentioned to avoid trademark royalties, Wonder 'Zoi's secret identity is thinly disguised, but for some reason, no one else in the comic strip world can recognize him. Wonder 'Zoi protects the denizens of Motorville from all manner of evildoers. Whether or not he intends to sell franchises in other cities is still unknown.

The Bone of Power

Wonder 'Zoi derives his super powers from a mystical artifact given to him by the Four Show Dogs of the Apocolypse, the mysterious Bone of Power. This fabulous fibula grants its posessor unique powers, such as telekinesis, x-ray vision, and the like. The trouble is, the powers are sometimes unpredictable, especially when used in an inappropriate manner. To further complicate matters, the term "inappropriate" was never properly defined in the Bone of Power User's Manual. And to make things really, really bad, that manual was lost by General Wellington's dog during the Battle of Waterloo. The Bone, therefore, has unpredictable powers, meaning that they cannot be revealed here until he's actually used them for the first time.

Wonder 'Zoi's Known Powers

  • Magical Dog Transformation: (Episode 1) Wonder 'Zoi can transform from his secret identity into Wonder 'Zoi merely by saying "This looks like a job for Wonder 'Zoi!"
  • Flight: (Episode 1) Yes, Virginia, Wonder 'Zoi can fly. This is, admittedly, an overdone form of rapid transit for graphic novel legends. Well, tough.
  • Enhanced Physique: (Episode 1) Wonder 'Zoi has exceptional speed, stamina, agility, and resistance to physical damage. He is not, however, invulnerable!
  • Power Hearing: (Episode 1) Wonder 'Zoi can discern sounds and conversation over great distances and through heavy barriers. He'll hear that can of dog food opening from miles away!
  • Stealth Slip: (Episode 2) Wonder 'Zoi can slip any collar, including those high-tech slip-proof greyhound safety collars.
  • Gazer Beam: (Episode 3) Being a sighthound, Wonder 'Zoi can focus energy through his ocular neurons, resulting in frighteningly-powerful energy beams emitting from his eyes. This is a taxing power, however, and cannot be used too much or he'll go blind.
