Other Fun Things To See
Cool Comics Sites:
Argon Zark!
Charley Parker's Argon Zark! is smartly-drawn and pretty darned funny to boot.
The story chronicles the exploits of a dimension-hopping cybergeek who seems to have a knack for
crossing paths with big, nasty...well, see for yourself. I ran across this
site because of a debate some friends of mine were having regarding what was the first
web comic. The debate rages on as to who can finally lay claim to the honor - but
that's ok, I think Wonder 'Zoi can safely claim to be the first
web-based comic about a borzoi who battles aliens using superpowers derived
from an enchanted bone. I wonder if there's a prize for that...
The Belfry
A furry-animal comics and stories web site. They've got stories, some terrific art
and a huge links page to online "furry"comics. Some sites linked out of this
one contain material not suited for children.
Dark Horse Comics
Dark Horse's titles are widely varied, from Frank Miller's
gritty Sin City to Myriad Star Wars and other film- and TV-based
titles to several manga imports from Japan.
DC Comics
You know, I'm thirty-seven years old and I still think Batman is cool.
And I'm not afraid to say it! I'm comfortable with that. It's
like, being in touch with your feminine side, you know?
linsner.com
The official web site of Joseph Michael Linsner, best known for
his work featuring that sultry goddess, Dawn. Linsner is
a tremendously talented artist. His impact on modern comics
has been profound, and his work challenges you to
look past the glossy surface (where many of his imitators find
their limits) to discover a nuanced web of ideas, beliefs,
emotions and symbols that will have a different meaning for each
viewer depending on their own experiences. Linsner's work is
suited for mature audiences.
Supermegatopia
Even if you don't like "furry-animal comics" you
should check out this site. Online home of "Weasel Boy," an insane
send-up of Batman set in the "Kiwi capital of the world".
(Contains some material that may not be suitable for children.)
Things from Another World
This is a west-coast based comix shop.
I strongly encourage you to seek out a local comic book
specialty retailer first, because they might have the same
merchandise, or they can get it for you. Additionally, you won't
pay the shipping charges to your local retailer, and if they have
it in stock you get the immediate gratification of having your
cool stuff the very same day. Purchasing from your local retailer
keeps your dollars local, which ultimately is good for you. And
you help keep these stores open, which is really important
because many very good comics will never get to the public any
other way.
- That said, if you don't have a local comic book shop, go check
these guys out. They're very prompt with shipping and have a good
search engine. They don't have as many small titles as I would
like to see but they still have a very large selection of titles
and other merchandise.
Vault of Midnight
If you're in the Ann Arbor area, I highly recommend this comics shop.
They're on South Main Street, downtown. These guys rock!
Cool Borzoi and Dog-related Sites:
The American Kennel Club
It's the AKC, need I say more?
Barsoi-Net
European borzoi web site, originating from Germany. Information
on european borzoi, kennels, photohistories of the breed, and the
new FCI borzoi standard - a very interesting read...this link
points to a primarily English-language version of the site.
borzois.com and Silkenswift Borzoi
This kennel provided inspiration for many of the characters in Wonder 'Zoi.
Borzoi Club of America
Information on Borzoi in the United States, including the official breed
standard, national club activities, and breed rescue efforts.
Borzoi-Ringen
A breed club in Sweden. And NO, the Swedish dogs don't "bork"
so don't ask.
Other Cool Sites:
LucasArts Entertainment Company
Who else would give you the opportunity to fly wingman to Darth Vader?
The Phoenix Organization
Our gracious host on the web.
